Bishop issues statement about Ukraine
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor released the following statement, Feb. 25, 2022, on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. "Since the time of St. Augustine, the Catholic Church has used the Just War theory to help discern when and how force might be applied in the defense of the nation in time of conflict — a timely topic in these days of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The teaching of the Church regarding war and peace is spelled out very clearly in articles 2263-2267 and 2302-2317 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Pope: Fast for peace this Ash Wednesday
We enter into Lent this year after two years of pandemic and now the threat of war. Pope Francis is appealing to everyone "believers and non-believers alike" to make Ash Wednesday a "day of fasting for peace on March 2." He said his "heart aches greatly" for the situation in Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia Feb. 24. 2022 CYM Convention to be held April 8-10
The 70th annual Diocese of Little Rock Catholic Youth Convention is scheduled for April 8-10 at Robinson Center and the DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock. This event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so high school youth have not gathered for this event since April 2019. This year's keynote presentation will be provided by Jackie Francois Angel and other special guests. She is a Catholic speaker, vlogger, worship leader and author. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor spoke about the upcoming National Eucharistic Revival to Serra Club members in Morris Hall Chapel at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock on Friday, Feb. 11, 2022. 2022 Ignatian Silent Retreat is March 17-20
Deepen your friendship with the Lord in sacred stillness and quiet through the annual Diocese of Little Rock Ignatian Silent Directed Retreat March 17-20 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. This Lenten faith formation program for adults will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday and end on Sunday at noon in Fletcher Hall. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops partners with other organizations to promote National Marriage Week each year to help build "a culture of life and love that begins with supporting and promoting marriage and the family." Bishop releases a pastoral change Feb. 2
Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the following pastoral appointment, Feb. 2, 2022, for the Diocese of Little Rock. Effective Feb. 6: Rev. Polycarp Ssebbowa, suspended from the office of pastor of St. James Church in Searcy and St. Richard Church in Bald Knob, because of a delay in his immigration case. He will be residing at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor announced the following pastoral appointments, Jan. 28, 2022, for the Diocese of Little Rock. Effective March 22: Rev. Chandra Kodavatikanti, relieved of his responsibilities as administrator of St. John the Evangelist Church in Huntsville and associate pastor of St. Joseph Church in Fayetteville to return to India due to a delay in the renewal of his visa; Rev.
